ADGM has in place a data protection regime based on international standards in order to protect the personal information of individuals. Under the regime, ADGM companies that collect, receive and process your personal data must comply with certain obligations in order to protect that data. Additionally, the data protection regime sets out an individual’s rights in relation to the processing of their personal data, as listed in the diagram below.

Right to be informed
When an ADGM registered company collects personal information from you, it must provide certain information to you such as confirmation of the purpose of collecting your personal information.
Right to access
You have the right to request that an ADGM registered company confirm whether it holds any personal data in relation to you, the purpose of holding the personal data and to whom it has been disclosed.
Right to object
If you have provided your personal data to an ADGM registered company:
Right to be forgotten
If you have previously provided your personal data to an ADGM registered company, you have the right to request that the company erase your personal information.
Right to rectification
If you have provided your personal data to an ADGM registered company you have the right to request that the company correct, rectify or erase your personal information at any time.
Right to file a complaint
If you feel that your personal information has been misused or disclosed without your permission, or that any of your data privacy rights have been violated by an ADGM registered company, you have a right to file a complaint with the Office of Data Protection.
