ADGM Courts: 16 Feb 2019
Abu Dhabi Global Market Courts ("ADGM Courts"), theinternationally recognised independent courts of ADGM, and Abu Dhabi Judicial Department ("ADJD") are pleased to jointly launch a fully digital Notary Public Office in the ADGM Authorities Building on Al Maryah Island. The Notary Public Office and its appointed officers have been trained and accredited by ADJD to carry out a comprehensive range of notary services within ADGM and have the authority to notarise and attest all official documents in accordance with Law No. (11) of 2017 Concerning Notary Public in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Notary Public Office ensures ADGM's business community has seamless access to fully digitised Notary Public services in which all requests and appointments for notarisation can be made via the ADGM eCourts platform. ADGM's community will benefit from the convenience and flexibility of having their documents accepted in both Arabic and English languages with the approved official translation stamp. Communication with the Notary Public Office is also available in Arabic and English languages.
H.E. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State (UAE) and Chairman of ADGM, shared, "AbuDhabi Judicial Department has been instrumental in ensuring that Abu Dhabi provides the highest levels of judicial services and practice that are on par with international standards. The Notary Public Office is an extension of the ongoing collaboration between ADGM Courts and ADJD in enhancing Abu Dhabi's global position as an attractive and trusted trading and investment hub that businesses and investors can confidently depend on to support their growth strategies and dynamic needs. We will continue to work closely with ADJD and relevant Ministries to maintain a progressive judicial and legislative environment that serves the long-term economic growth and well-being of the UAE and Abu Dhabi."
H.E Yousef Saeed Al Abri, undersecretary of the ADJD affirmed that the department’scontinuous efforts to cooperate with strategic partners is aimed at improving government performance and promote quality of services to meet international standards. The department's efforts are in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and ADJD Chairman.
H.E stated that the opening of the new office will provide easy and accessible notary services to the ADGM community, meeting their business requirements in support of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.
Chief Justice of ADGM Courts, Lord David Hope commented: "The ADGM Notary PublicOffice is a very significant and much-welcomed addition to ADGM Courts' role in supporting ADGM’s community with business related services. With the Notary Public Office, the local and international business community will have more options and access to a comprehensive range of services to support their legal transactions and activities. I am delighted with this additional milestone in our close and further collaboration with Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) as we continue our work together for the success of Abu Dhabi as an international investment hub and leading business centre. The Notary Public Office is established following the issuing of Administrative Resolution No. (223) of 2018 Concerning the Licensing of an ADGM Employee to Practice as a Notary Public by H.E Chancellor Yosuf Alabri, Undersecretary of ADJD, in November 2018 and January 2019. Pursuant to His Excellency's resolution, the Notary Public Office is authorised to provide a holistic and extensive suite of notary services, including the notarisation of board and shareholders' resolutions, share pledge agreements, declarations and affirmations, articles of association, powers of attorney, instrument of transfer of shares and settlement agreements, authentication of signatures, verification of documents and more.
