ADGM to Organise its Inaugural Fintech Abu Dhabi Event in 2017

Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial centre in Abu Dhabi, today announced its plans to host and organise an inaugural FinTech event in Abu Dhabi in early 2017. This ADGM FinTech initiative is to create a platform for financial institutions, FinTech start-ups and participants, investors, regulatory agencies and the business community to network, collaborate and exchange expertise and knowledge in FinTech developments in Abu Dhabi, the wider MENA region and internationally.
The FinTech Abu Dhabi event will comprise key components including a Summit, Hackathon, Demo Day, and FinTech Awards presentation. ADGM will be partnering key industry leaders and FinTech experts to create and develop the FinTech Abu Dhabi event for next year.
ADGM announced its ambition to be the FinTech hub in the MENA region in March 2016. In November this year, ADGM launched the first Regulatory Laboratory (“RegLab”) in the MENA region to offer a controlled environment for FinTech players to develop and test their innovative solutions without being subject to full authorisation requirements. These solutions will further contribute to the development of the financial services sector in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. ADGM will also provide appropriate regulatory support and guidance to help FinTech participants understand and apply the relevant regulatory requirements.
